Since our inception in 1975, McDugald Steele has integrated a full suite of landscape services that encompass creating, constructing and managing many of the finest residential and commercial gardens in our region.

Our services start with a client's vision and our thorough appreciation for the site and its architecture. We often work hand-in-hand with architects, interior designers, and other experienced consultants to create design concepts and turn them into master plan documents.

Through actively listening and careful planning we can create outdoor rooms that compliment and extend interior living spaces that are ideal for outdoor entertaining as well as spaces for quiet contemplation and repose.

INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS

McDugald Steele offers two college internship programs with a production emphasis for students enrolled in a 2
or 4 year degree program in Horticulture, Landscape Design, Landscape Management, Constructions
Management and/or related field. Spend time with industry experts and company management whether in the
office or field to see what you learn in the classroom come to life.

1. SINGLE CONCENTRATION
Take a deep dive into one area of the business as you work alongside us as we create, construct or
manage extraordinary gardens. Length of internship varies.

2 . ALL CONCENTRATIONS
Experience all aspects of the business in a period of 8 weeks, usually within the summer months.

CREATING
Week One: Landscape Design & Estimating

Every garden we design is a unique creative expression. Our services start with a client's vision
and our thorough appreciation for the site and its architecture. We often work hand-in-hand
with architects, interior designers, and other experienced consultants to create design concepts
and turn them into master plan documents.

CONSTRUCTING
Week Two to Four: Project Management, Irrigation, Installation

Working closely with our design team, every aspect of the design is interpreted and precisely
constructed by our hardscape and planting divisions. We utilize some of the industry's finest stone
masons, carpenters, metal-smiths, lighting electricians, and swimming pool craftsmen. Our project
management team coordinates the seamless execution of all construction efforts to ensure each
client's satisfaction. 

MANAGING
Weeks Five to Eight: Garden Management

Extraordinary gardens evolve, change and grow with time. After construction is completed, we
continue our involvement by recommending one of our maintenance programs to steward the
development of the landscape. Each client is provided a garden manager to personally oversee all
aspects of the care and health of their garden.
